Maxine Shifrin is a chef, herbalist creative producer, and one of the stewards of Brave Earth, a Center for Applied Cultural Transition in Costa Rica. As a living laboratory they hold the questions of how to decolonize our minds from the dominant culture of capitalism, patriarchy, racialized hierarchies, scarcity logic and oppressive systems of control. As well as how we might become stewards in service to all Life.
In this episode we speak about de-centering human narratives, animism and looking to plants as teachers, ancestors, and carriers of wisdom. We discuss the ways in which the body mimics the wounds of the earth; and how food can serve as a focal point for how we re-establish connection to ourselves, others and the living world. Thus, remembering our entanglement with the more than human and creating healthy, embodied relationships in service to the collective transition.
