Sophie Shnapp is an expert in the field of best practice climate, energy efficiency and renewable policies. She works where climate and culture intersect. Having spent the past decade in EU and international decarbonisation policy, she is now involved with a spectrum of creative projects and charities, being a firm believer that climate change is a climate justice issue. Hence, she sees culture as being key into drawing bringing the creative sector into the heart of climate conversations, trusting in the joy of collective action and the importance of culture in the public engagement needed for transformative change. At Earth Percent she is working with artists and industry to unleash the power of music in the service of the planet.
In this episode we dive into her time at Plum Village, a Zen Buddhist monastery, and how Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings have been fundamental to enriching her life and environmental advocacy. We speak about the reflection of the inner and outer work, simultaneously holding compassion and boundaries, and moving from individualism to community. Sophie also shares more about her work in the music industry and why she considers artists key allies in mobilizing hearts and minds towards climate action.
